FAIRFIELD (BCN)--Police in Fairfield are still trying to identify a man who stole another man's car at gunpoint last Wednesday, pistol-whipping the victim in the process.
The victim, a 20-year-old Fairfield resident, was sitting in his black 2012 Toyota Camry at the corner of Robin Drive and Meadowlark Drive at about 1:40 a.m. on April 11 when the carjacking occurred, police said.
The suspect approached the victim's car, opened the door, pointed a gun at the victim, and ordered him out of the car, demanding his cellphone, according to police.
There was a struggle, and the suspect struck the man in the head with his gun, then got in the victim's car and drove away, police said.
The Camry was found abandoned about an hour later on Kidder Avenue.
Police have released a sketch of the suspect, described as a black man in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds, with long dreadlocks.
Anyone with information about the incident has been asked to call Fairfield police at (707) 428-7600.
