SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Police are releasing the sketches of six people suspected to defrauding elderly Asian women out of money, jewelry, and other valuables.

Investigators say there are 21 cases that they know of where the people in the sketch have approached older victims and used superstitious beliefs to steal the women's property.

In many cases the thieves, who appear to be in their early 40's and speak the Cantonese dialect of Chinese, tell the victims that they can "purify" their property.  Instead they allegedly steal the items.

Police say potential victims shouldn't allow anyone to touch them or their hands under unusual circumstances.  Victims are told not to talk with strangers offering "good fortune" and to never turn over currency or other valuables to be "purified."

If you recognize any of the people in the sketches, contact San Francisco police or your local authorities.
