MORGAN HILL (KRON)--Volunteers have resumed their searches for missing Morgan Hill teen Sierra Lamar as the city's school district changes its student absence notification system in the wake of the teen's disappearance.
The district now now sends out automated phone calls about any unexcused absences at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. It previously only contacted parents at 6 p.m. The new morning notification policy went into effect on Monday after parents in the district called on school officials to change the system.
Police say Sierra disappeared on her way to school on March 16. However, the school did not send an automated phone call to her mother reporting her absence until the evening.
Volunteers with the KlaasKids Foundation are out Wednesday conducting additional searches for evidence into Sierra's disappearance. The organization has conducted searches for the teen every week since she disappeared more than one month ago.
