OAKLAND (KRON)--A woman is in the hospital recovering from wounds after she was stabbed by her schizophrenic son early Wednesday morning.

 

Police say officers responded to reports of the stabbing in the 1000 block of 53rd Street at 4:40 a.m. According to authorities, the woman was locked inside her house when police arrived and her son fled the scene.

 

The woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The son remains at large and police have not released his name.
