SONOMA CO. (KRON)--A body has been recovered from the waters of Bodega Bay, hours after it was spotted by tourists.
Police say tourists spotted what appeared to be a body at the base of the cliff at Bodega Head and called the sheriff's office at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Authorities sent a helicopter to the area, but due to the darkness were unable to retrieve the body.
Police say a helicopter was sent out to the same area at first light Wednesday morning and the remains were located and retrieved at about 8:30 a.m.,
Investigators say the body has not yet been identified and it is not yet clear how long it had been in the water.
