SAN JOSE (KRON)-- The city of San Jose is preparing for possible Cinco de Mayo violence by beefing up police patrols ahead of celebrations scheduled to start Friday evening.
KRON 4's Will Tran reports that thousands of people are expected to descend on San Jose's San Pedro Square as early as Friday ahead of Cinco de Mayo which falls on Saturday. Due to the rise of gang activity and violence in San Jose recently as well as the heavy vandalizing of businesses during Cinco de Mayo celebrations last year, Will reports that police will increase their presence in the city in an effort to curb violence.
Police are expected to be out on bikes as well as conduct foot patrols throughout the weekend from Friday through early Sunday.
