MORGAN HILL (KRON) -- Surveillance tape is among the evidence prompting authorities to put out an alert on for a red mid-90's model Volkswagon Jetta in connection with the search for a missing high school cheerleader.

Santa Clara County sheriff's investigators are releasing a photograph of a vehicle similar to the one seen in photographs gathered during the search for 15-year old Sierra Lamar.

It's now been more than a month since the girl disappeared after leaving home purportedly to catch a school bus in March.

Authorities say they remain committed to finding Sierra.

"Sheriff’s Investigators have submitted items of evidence which have been processed by the County Crime Lab and State Crime Lab, many of which have been determined not to be associated to the case, such as an empty handcuff box and used condoms," investigators said in a written statement.  "However, information developed by Sheriff’s Investigators, supported by forensic examination and County Crime Lab reports, has assisted in furthering the investigation. We are still awaiting additional Lab results."

Authorities say the surveillance camera footage combined with statements from witnesses have prompted the alert for the red Jetta.  If you saw a similar vehicle on the morning of March 16 near Palm and Dougherty avenues in unincorporated Morgan Hill, contact Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies or your local authories.
