CONCORD (KRON) -- There are no criminal charges pending at this point after a family pit bull mauled a two-year old child.

Animal control officers are taking the lead right now in the investigation into the attach which happened at the family home on Rose Lane in Concord.

Authorities say the animal bit the child on the head, face, and legs.  She remains in the hospital but is expected to survive.

Animal control officers seized the dog and euthanized it late Monday night, authorities say.

KRON 4's Will Tran reports neighbors say they never saw the pit bull and the home displays prominent "Beware of Dog" signs.
