Berkeley (KRON) -- About two dozen students stormed UC Berkeley's Sproul Hall and refused to leave on Friday.

The protest started after 3:00 p.m at Sproul Plaza before the students moved into the adjacent building.

Demonstrators say they are representing minority students who feel they have been unjustly denied admission.  They say minority students face declining enrollment and are being blocked from receiving higher education.

Police warned the protestors that they would be arrested if they did not vacate the building.  Around 7:30 p.m., they stayed true to their word and detained about a dozen students.

Sproul Plaza has been one of the epicenters for student protests over rising tuition costs.
