VALLEJO (KRON) -- A Vallejo family is demanding answers after a police officer shot the family dog twice in the head Wednesday in the front yard of their home.
The resident say they've never had any problems with the eleven year old Labrador mix.
The dog's owner says she had called police to follow up on a report she filed after money went missing from her bank account earlier this week. She says she heard a commotion in front of the home and went outside the investigate. She says the officer told her to go back inside. When she emerged she found the animal dead, shot twice in the head.
The officer says he was in fear for his life and that's why he pulled his service weapon and shot the animal.
Vallejo police will only say they're investigating the incident.
