Furlough Day Leaves Parents, Students, and Teachers Idle Friday in Vallejo

VALLEJO (KRON) -- School is out Friday in Vallejo public schools and while the teachers may be home, they won't be making any money.
Some parents are expressing frustration with the district's decision to impose furlough days on the teachers in an effort to close a budget deficit.
In March administrators struck a deal with teachers and other employees on the elementary, middle, and high school campuses in Vallejo to take the furlough days as an alternative to more layoffs.
Officials say the off days without pay will save the school system about $117,000 this year.
Five more furlough days are planned for next year.
