High School Seniors Suspended Following Prank

BRENTWOOD (KRON)--If the principal at one Brentwood high school has his way, more than two dozen seniors will not be allowed to participate in their graduation ceremony following a prank that school officials say went too far.
KRON 4's Will Tran reports that students and parents have gathered at Heritage High School in an effort to persuade school officials to lift the punishment of the students who have been suspended after they spread washable paint around the campus and stole banners from the school late Thursday night. Will reports that the students also admitted to purchasing a sheep from Craigslist and leaving it on the campus.
School principal Larry Oshodi says despite the students returning to the campus to clean up their mess, the acts constitute vandalism. As a result, the students have been suspended for five days and will not be able to participate in their graduation ceremony.
"Compared to what I've seen in my experience as an administrator, it is right up there. It is bad," Oshodi says of the prank.
Will reports that the students will still receive their diploma if they have all the credits, but will not be allowed to participate in the graduation itself. The principal tells KRON 4 that it is not up to him on whether or not the students take their final exams and that it's up to the teachers to decide whether to administer the exams to the suspended students off campus.
