SAN JOSE (KRON)--Florida authorities have arrested a San Jose man suspected of driving across the country to engage in sexual acts with an 11-year-old girl.
Authorities say 52-year-old Phil Luna was arrested June 4 after traveling to an undercover house to engage in sex with who he thought was an 11-year-old child.
According to authorities, Luna had brought condoms and a bag of Skittles with him to the encounter. Investigators say he had responded to a Craigslist ad posted by an undercover agent who posed as a woman looking for some fun for her 11-year-old daughter.
According to investigators, Luna works as an engineer for a San Jose company that contracts with NASA. He was bonded out of jail and allowed to return to California pending trial.
Luna is among 38 people arrested during an extensive undercover operation conducted by the Polk County Sheriff's Office targeting individuals who traveled with an intent to meet a minor for sex and other crimes.
The 10-day long operation dubbed Operation Cyber Child, spanned June 1 through June 10 and involved investigators from multiple agencies including the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
