ANTIOCH (KRON) -- A man accused of kidnapping two people and cutting one with a knife is still on the loose after one victim jumped out of a moving car in Antioch.
Investigators say it appears 32-year old Ernan Hediberto Montiel thought one of the victims was in a relationship with his estranged wife. Police say Montiel then kidnapped the brother of the man suspected of having the affair. The first victim was released after leading Montiel to the man police believe was the intended target.
Montiel then allegedly drove with the man he thought was cheating with his wife towards the Antioch Corporation Yard and began to slash him with a knife. The victim says he jumped out of the moving car, heard a gunshot that didn't hit him, and ran. He ended up on the roof of the Corporation Yard where workers found him begging for help early Tuesday morning.
Montiel was last seen driving a 2000 gray Nissan Maxima with a California license plate of 6HLP460 or Washington plate AFZ0446. He may be headed to Washington State. He's also wanted on a drug warrant out of Antioch. Police say he will be charged with kidnapping and attempted murder in connection with Tuesday's events.
If you see him, do not approach him yourself but call 911.
