SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- Search-and-rescue crews have called off the search of the water along San Francisco's Embarcadero Tuesday morning where a man may have fallen into the Bay late Monday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The 27-year-old man was last seen on Pier 32 at about 10:30 p.m., U.S. Coast Guard Officer Mark Leahey said.
He and a friend had just come from the San Francisco Giants game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at AT&T Park and had gone to Pier 32, just off the Embarcadero at Bryant Street, Leahy said.
The man's friend had looked away momentarily, and when the friend looked back, the man was no longer on the pier, Leahy said.
The missing man was reported to have been wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket, a white T-shirt, and a Dodgers baseball cap.
His disappearance was reported to the Coast Guard around 11 p.m., and search crews from the Coast Guard and the San Francisco Fire Department searched the surrounding water well into the night.
The Coast Guard returned to the scene at about 4 a.m. and conducted a first-light search. The San Francisco Fire Department joined them again around 7 a.m., Leahey said.
